The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief

By Rick Riordan

Perseus (better known as Percy) Jackson is a dyslexic child with ADHD who has been kicked out of every school he attended. Strange things seemed to happen when he was around. After being kicked out of another school at the end of 6th grade he went on a holiday trip to Montauk Beach with his mother. His mean step-father did not go with them. While he was there he discovered something strange … the Greek myths are real, and more than that, his real father is Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. This book follows Percy, Annabeth (who is daughter of Athena – goddess of wisdom), and their satyr friend, Grover. This is a daring, action-packed, comedy-filled adventure which took them from the Underworld where they saved Zeus’s master bolt, to Mt. Olympus in time for the summer solstice, in only 10 days! I loved this book because it had lots of action but lots of comedy too! This is a great book for any 9-12 year old. It also has a little bit of history. My favourite character is usually female, and Annabeth is no exception. This book is a little long but doesn’t feel like it. It is one of five in the series and I enjoyed the movie almost as much as the book.

This is one of my favourites!! I also like Narnia, 39 Clues, AND Harry Potter, which I will write about later.

P.S: HAPPY HALLOWE’EN! (I’m sooooooooooo excited!)
